What your Mumble server looks like at ZentexNode

What you can do with your Mumble server

Mumble is free, open-source software, and with a server of your own your community, clan or group of friends has a voice hangout that stays online 24/7. Up to 100 users can be connected at the same time.

The service includes Anti-DDoS protection and a control panel in your browser with a console, file manager, backups and scheduled tasks.

How to get started

There is a single plan. Once payment is complete, the server is created on its own and your login details arrive by email. With your server address you can connect from the Mumble client straight away.

Configuration lives in the murmur.ini file, which you edit from the panel's file manager: that is where you change the server name, the password and the welcome message. Restart the server to apply your changes.

Channels and permissions

The administrator account is called SuperUser, and its password is generated on first start. Connect with the client using SuperUser as the username and that password.

From there, channels and permissions (ACLs) are managed from the client itself: you create channels and decide which group can enter, speak or moderate in each one, and sub-channels inherit those rules by default. The usual approach is to keep SuperUser for the initial setup and give admin rights to your own registered user.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Mumble hosting

The most common questions before setting up your Mumble server.

Is Mumble free?
The software is free and open source; with us you only pay for the hosting. The server allows up to 100 users connected at once.
What voice quality does it have?
Excellent: Mumble prioritises low latency and crisp audio, ideal for gaming.
Where do I find the SuperUser password?
In the server log from the first start: look for the line that mentions SuperUser. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.
Can I set a password so only my group can join?
Yes. The server password is set in murmur.ini, and anyone without it cannot connect.
Can I give someone else access to the panel?
Yes, with sub-users: you invite another admin and choose what they can do, without sharing your own account.
Where are the servers and what latency will I get in the US?
Our US node is in Miami, Florida. It is our closest location for players in the eastern and southern United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean; from the West Coast the distance is greater, so latency will be higher. We also have nodes in Spain and in the São Paulo region (Brazil), and you choose the location at checkout. Real latency depends on your internet provider; if you want to check it before buying, ask us on Discord.
Does it include Anti-DDoS and a no-commitment trial?
Yes, every plan includes Anti-DDoS Pro and there is no contract: you can cancel whenever you want.
What currency do I pay in?
Prices for the United States are in US dollars (USD) and you pay by card. There is no setup fee and no contract.
