Backups: How to Create and Restore Your Server
💾 Why make backups?
A backup is a complete copy of your server (files, world, configuration) at a specific moment. They're essential before installing new plugins, changing version or making any major modification. With a backup you can return to the previous state if something goes wrong.📸 1. Create a manual backup
In the panel, go to the Backups tab. You'll see the Create Backup button. You can give it a descriptive name (e.g. "before installing EssentialsX"). The process can take a few minutes depending on the server size. Once complete it appears in the list with date and time.📋 2. How many backups can I have?
The maximum number of backups depends on your plan:- Basic plan: 1 backup included.
- Higher plans: Up to 2 simultaneous backups.
♻️ 3. Restore a backup
In the backup list, click the three dots (⋯) next to the backup you want to restore and select Restore. Important: Restoring a backup replaces all server files with those from the backup — you'll lose any changes made after that copy. The server restarts automatically after the restore.⬇️ 4. Download a backup
You can download the backup as a compressed file from the same backup list (Download option). This gives you a local copy you can keep on your computer indefinitely, without depending on the panel's slots.⏰ 5. Automatic backups
Automatic backups are currently managed manually. We recommend making a manual backup every time you make important changes to the server. If you need frequent automatic backups, open a ticket on Discord and we'll tell you the available options.💡 Best practices
- Always make a backup before updating the server, installing new plugins or changing the world.
- Name backups descriptively so you know what each one covers.
- Download a local copy monthly as an extra precaution.
