What your Arma 3 server looks like at ZentexNode
What you can do with your Arma 3 server
Your own server runs whatever your group plays: custom missions, which you upload as files, and the Steam Workshop mods your community uses. From the panel you set the player limit, the password, BattlEye RCON, automatic updates and the server FPS limit.
Two options are aimed at units and communities: the game branch, which lets you run Creator DLC for example, and headless clients, from 0 to 5.
The server stays online 24/7 whether or not you are connected, with Anti-DDoS protection included.
Which plan to choose
Plans differ by RAM, and with Arma 3 the deciding factor is the size of your mod collection. Billing is monthly with no commitment, and you can move to a plan with more RAM from the client area without losing your data. As a guide:
- Without many mods: 6 to 8 GB.
- Large mod collections: 12 GB or more.
- On every plan: 10 GB of NVMe storage per GB of RAM.
How to get started
Choose a plan and complete the payment; activation is automatic and your login details arrive by email. Before installing there is one step specific to Arma 3: the server needs a real Steam account (username and password), because anonymous login does not work.
Once the server is installed, log in to the panel, set the password and player limit, add your mods and missions and start it. Your group connects using the server address.
If you would rather not set it up yourself, Assisted setup is an optional one-off paid service in which a technician gets the server ready with the mods and settings you ask for. For anything else, support is handled through tickets on Discord.
Mods and missions
There are two ways to load mods. The first is the Mods tab in the panel, where you add them by Steam Workshop ID. The second is to export your list from the Arma 3 Launcher and upload that file, modlist.html, to the server. We go through it step by step in our guide to installing Arma 3 mods from the panel.
You can also load server-side-only mods and optional client mods, which each player can run or leave out. Custom missions are uploaded with the file manager or over SFTP (see the SFTP guide). If something goes wrong, the panel has repair options.
