What you can do with your Minecraft server
You pick the server type when you order: Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Vanilla, BungeeCord or “Bedrock + Java”. That covers anything from a survival world with friends to a plugin server or a full modpack.
Everything is managed from a control panel in your browser: live console, file manager, SFTP access, backups and scheduled tasks for restarts, backups or commands. From there you can also search for and install plugins and mods, edit server.properties and change the server icon. Sub-users let you give friends or admins access with the permissions you choose.
The server stays on around the clock whether or not you are connected, and Anti-DDoS protection is included.
Which plan to choose
Every plan includes 10 GB of NVMe storage per GB of RAM, as many MySQL databases and stored backups as it has GB of RAM, and 5 ports.
What changes from one plan to the next is the RAM. If you plan to run mods, this guide to how much RAM a server needs goes into more detail. As a rough guide:
- 2 GB: 5 to 15 players on Paper or Vanilla.
- 4 GB: 15 to 40 players with plugins.
- 8 GB or more: modpacks and large communities. Big modpacks usually need 8 to 12 GB.
How to get started
Choose a plan and a server type and complete the payment. Activation is automatic: the server is created for you and your login details arrive by email. Use them to sign in to the panel, then join from Minecraft with your server address.
Already have a world? You can upload your existing world and carry on where you left off. If you would rather not configure anything, Assisted setup is an optional one-off paid service in which a technician gets the version, world, mods and settings ready for you. For any questions, support is handled through tickets on Discord.
Modpacks, versions and switching server type
To install a CurseForge modpack, paste its link into the panel and it installs the mod loader and the mods. The link or code of a shared profile works too, with one caveat: only the mods that are on CurseForge come across, so any .jar files you added by hand have to be uploaded separately.
You can change the server type and the Minecraft version later from the panel, without opening a ticket, and the right Java version is set for you. Before you make the switch, it is worth reading how to change version without losing data.
