What your Foundry VTT server looks like at ZentexNode

What you can do with your Foundry VTT server

With a server of your own, Foundry is available to your table at any hour. Players join from their browser using the server address, with nothing to install, and you don't have to leave your own computer running.

Worlds, game systems and modules are installed from Foundry's own interface, and everything stays on the server. You also get a control panel in your browser with backups, scheduled tasks and sub-users for giving a co-GM access.

Which plan to choose

Plans differ by RAM, and billing is monthly with no commitment. If you run short, you can move to a plan with more RAM from the client area without losing your worlds.

With Foundry, what weighs most is how many modules you run and how large your maps are. As a guide:

  • 2 GB of RAM: usually enough for one table with its game system and the usual modules. Includes 20 GB of NVMe storage and 2 stored backups.
  • 4 GB of RAM: for campaigns with lots of modules and heavy maps. Includes 40 GB of storage and 4 stored backups.

How to get started

You need your own Foundry VTT license. In your foundryvtt.com account, pick the Node.js version and generate the temporary download link (Timed URL). It expires after a few minutes, so create it right before you order and paste it in at checkout.

Once payment is complete, the server is created on its own and your login details arrive by email. Open the server address in your browser: the first time, Foundry asks for your license key. Then create your world and share the address with your group.

Systems, modules and updates

Your table's game system and any modules are installed from Foundry's setup screen. If you already have maps or other material ready, you can upload it with the file manager or over SFTP (guide to connecting over SFTP).

From the panel you can change the language and the update channel without editing files. Before moving to a new Foundry version it is worth taking a backup, because some modules take a while to catch up; if something breaks, you restore it from the panel (how to create and restore backups).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Foundry VTT hosting

The most common questions before setting up your Foundry VTT server.

What do I need to use Foundry?
Your own Foundry VTT licence; at checkout you enter your download link (Timed URL) and we get it ready.
Is it always available?
Yes, it's a dedicated 24/7 server: your table can join whenever it wants.
Do my players need to buy Foundry or install anything?
No. Only the person hosting the game needs a license; players join from their browser using the server address.
Can I use the license I already have on my computer?
Yes, it is the same one and you don't need a second. Just bear in mind that Foundry allows only one active server per license at a time.
What if the Timed URL expires before the server is installed?
Generate a new one in your foundryvtt.com account and update it in the server options in the panel. If the server still won't start, open a ticket on our Discord.
Can my table have an address that is easy to remember?
Yes. Optionally, you can add your own subdomain (your-name.zentexnode.com), which is easier to share than a numeric address.
Where are the servers and what latency do they have?
Our servers are in Spain, with 10 Gbps fibre: the lowest possible latency for players across Iberia and Europe.
Does it include Anti-DDoS and a no-commitment trial?
Yes, every plan includes Anti-DDoS Pro and there is no contract: you can cancel whenever you want.
