What your Terraria server looks like at ZentexNode

What you can do with your Terraria server

This is the official Terraria server, unmodified: a world that stays open around the clock so your group can drop in whenever they like, without relying on someone to host.

From the panel, with no files to edit, you choose the Terraria version, the world name, its size (small, medium or large), the difficulty (Classic, Expert, Master or Journey), the seed, the player limit, the password and the welcome message. You also get a live console, file manager, SFTP, backups, scheduled tasks and sub-users, with Anti-DDoS protection included.

Which plan to choose

Terraria is light on memory, so you do not need a large plan. Billing is monthly with no commitment, and you can move to a plan with more RAM from the client area without losing your world.

  • 2 GB: enough for a small group of friends.
  • More RAM: if you combine a large world with many players online at once.
  • Every plan includes 10 GB of NVMe storage per GB of RAM and 5 ports.

How to get started

Choose a plan and complete the payment: the server is created on its own and your login details arrive by email. In the panel, name the world, pick its size and difficulty and start the server; it generates the world on first launch. To join, each player chooses to join via IP in Terraria's multiplayer menu and enters the server's address and port.

If you would rather have it done for you, Assisted setup is an optional one-off paid service in which a technician configures the version, world and settings you ask for. Support is handled through tickets on Discord.

Worlds: size, difficulty, seed and bringing your own

Size, difficulty and seed are applied when the world is created; if you change them afterwards, the existing world stays as it was. To try a different combination, enter a new world name and the server will generate another one without deleting the old one. If you go for Journey, remember that Journey characters can only play in Journey worlds.

To carry on with a world you already have, upload the .wld file to the saves/Worlds folder through the file manager or over SFTP (guide to connecting over SFTP) and enter the file's name in the panel, without the extension.

This server runs without mods: it does not include tModLoader, so everyone joins with the standard game.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Terraria hosting

The most common questions before setting up your Terraria server.

Is it the official Terraria server?
Yes, it's the game's official dedicated server (vanilla). It doesn't include tModLoader or mods.
How many players does it support?
Terraria runs easily with 2 GB for small groups; raise the RAM if you're many or the world is large.
Does everyone need the same Terraria version?
Yes. Each player's game and the server have to be on the same version to connect. That is why the panel lets you choose the server's version.
Can I keep several worlds on one server?
You can store several, but the server loads one at a time: the one whose name is set in the panel. To switch, enter the other world's name and restart.
What if someone wrecks the world?
You can roll back to an earlier backup. Each plan stores as many as it has GB of RAM, and you can schedule them as an automatic task. See the backup guide.
Can I keep the server private, just for my friends?
Yes. Set a password in the panel and only people who know it can join. You can also cap the number of players.
Where are the servers and what latency do they have?
Our servers are in Spain, with 10 Gbps fibre: the lowest possible latency for players across Iberia and Europe.
Does it include Anti-DDoS and a no-commitment trial?
Yes, every plan includes Anti-DDoS Pro and there is no contract: you can cancel whenever you want.
