What your Counter-Strike server looks like at ZentexNode
What you can do with your Counter-Strike 2 server
This is a dedicated CS2 server (not CS:GO) that you control: use it for private matches with your team or as a public community server.
From the panel, without editing files, you choose the starting map, max players, server name and password, and the game mode and type: competitive, wingman, casual and others. You also decide whether VAC is on, set up RCON and automatic updates on restart, and enter your Steam GSLT token and the Workshop collection that will serve as the map rotation.
On top of that you get a live console, file manager, SFTP access, backups, scheduled tasks and sub-users. The server is online 24/7 and Anti-DDoS protection is included.
Which plan to choose
How much RAM you need depends on how many people play at once and how much extra content you load. Every plan includes 10 GB of NVMe storage per GB of RAM, as many stored backups and MySQL databases as it has GB of RAM, and 5 ports. Billing is monthly with no contract, and you can move to a plan with more RAM from the client area without losing your data. As a guide:
- 4 GB: a server for 10-12 players.
- More than 4 GB: if you load a lot of plugins or a lot of Workshop maps.
How to get started
Pick a plan and, once the payment goes through, the server is created automatically and your login details arrive by email. Log in to the panel, set the name, password and game mode, and start the server.
It is worth adding your GSLT token from the start, because the server needs it to show up in the public list. To join, open the in-game console and type connect followed by your server address; that address, plus the password if you set one, is what you share with your team.
Workshop maps and plugins
To play community maps, put them in a Steam Workshop collection and enter it in the panel, either in the startup options or on the Mods tab. The server uses that collection as its map rotation.
CS2 plugins run on Metamod and CounterStrikeSharp: Metamod goes in first, and CounterStrikeSharp sits on top of it and loads the plugins. Both are installed by uploading their files through the file manager or over SFTP (guide to connecting over SFTP). SourceMod, the system used in CS:GO, does not work on CS2.
Before installing or updating plugins, take a backup: here is how to create and restore one.
