What you can do with your Euro Truck Simulator 2 server
What we host is the official dedicated server for Convoy mode. The session stays open around the clock with nobody acting as host: whoever turns up first starts driving and the rest join when they can.
From the panel, in your browser, you set the lobby name, turn on automatic updates and, if you want, add a Steam token. You also get a live console, file manager, SFTP access, backups, scheduled tasks and sub-users. Anti-DDoS protection is included.
Which plan to choose
A dedicated Convoy is lightweight and, according to the game's documentation, takes up to 8 drivers at once, so you don't need a big plan. Plans differ by RAM and include 10 GB of NVMe storage per GB.
Billing is monthly with no minimum term, and you can move up a plan from the client area without losing anything. As a guide:
- 2 GB: a starting point for a Convoy among friends.
- 4 GB: more headroom if the session is usually full.
Getting started
Order a plan and, once payment is complete, the server is created automatically and your panel login arrives by email. There you set the lobby name and upload the two files that describe your map (explained further down).
To join, your friends open Convoy mode in the game and find the session in the list or by its ID. With a Steam token configured, that ID stays the same across restarts.
Maps, DLC and mods: the server_packages files
The server doesn't come with your map or your mods: it reads them from two files, server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat, which you generate from your own game. With the developer console enabled, load the profile that has the map DLC and mods you want in the session and type export_server_packages. The game saves both files in its Documents folder.
Upload them to the server with the file manager or over SFTP (see our guide to connecting over SFTP) and restart. There's no need to upload the mods or DLC themselves: the server only needs that description. Whenever you change mods or add a DLC, export again.
