What your DayZ server looks like at ZentexNode

What you can do with your DayZ server

Running your own server means you decide who gets in, which mods are loaded and what the rules are. Most settings are changed from the panel without opening a single file: server name, player limit, server and admin passwords, RCON and automatic updates.

You also set the tone of the game: third person and crosshair on or off, voice chat (VoN) and its quality, darker nights, persistent time, and separate multipliers for time and for night.

The server stays online 24/7 whether or not you are connected, with Anti-DDoS protection included.

Which plan to choose

Plans differ by RAM, and with DayZ the right amount mostly comes down to mods. Billing is monthly with no commitment; if your mod list grows, you can move to a plan with more RAM from the client area without losing your data. As a guide:

  • Server without mods: 6 to 8 GB.
  • Heavily modded server: 10 to 12 GB, or more.
  • On every plan: 10 GB of NVMe storage and one stored backup per GB of RAM.

How to get started

You need a Steam account that owns DayZ: the server downloads with your account. Once you receive it, enter your Steam username and password in the panel's Startup tab and reinstall it.

Choose a plan and complete the payment. Activation is automatic: the server is created on its own and your login details arrive by email. Log in to the panel, set the name and passwords, adjust the gameplay options, start the server and share its address with your group.

If you would rather not set it up yourself, Assisted setup is an optional one-off paid service in which a technician gets the server ready with the mods and settings you ask for. For anything else, support is handled through tickets on Discord.

Mods: from your Launcher list to the server

To run a modded server, export your mod list from the DayZ Launcher and upload that file, modlist.html, to the server, which then downloads and installs the mods on the list. You can upload it with the file manager or over SFTP (here is our guide to connecting over SFTP).

You can also load mods you have uploaded by hand, as well as server-side-only mods. If something breaks, the panel has repair options: converting the mod files to lowercase and validating the server files. Signature verification and forcing the same game version are switched on from the panel too.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about DayZ hosting

The most common questions before setting up your DayZ server.

Can I install mods on DayZ?
Yes, we support Steam Workshop mods and you get full access to configure them.
How many players does it support?
With the right RAM you can open 40-60+ slot servers; adjust based on mods and map.
Can I run a first-person-only server?
Yes. Third person and the crosshair can both be turned off from the panel, with no file editing.
Can I change how long day and night last?
Yes. The panel has one multiplier for time and another for night, plus persistent time (the server keeps its clock across restarts) and a darker-nights option.
How do I protect the world before changing mods?
Take a backup from the panel first; you can also schedule them. Our backup guide explains how to create and restore them.
Can I give other admins access?
Yes. Sub-users let you give anyone access to the panel and decide what they are allowed to do. In game, admins use the admin password or the RCON you set up in the panel.
Where are the servers and what latency do they have?
Our servers are in Spain, with 10 Gbps fibre: the lowest possible latency for players across Iberia and Europe.
Does it include Anti-DDoS and a no-commitment trial?
Yes, every plan includes Anti-DDoS Pro and there is no contract: you can cancel whenever you want.
