What your 7 Days to Die server looks like at ZentexNode
What you can do with your 7 Days to Die server
A dedicated server keeps your world open around the clock, with Anti-DDoS protection included: everyone joins when they can and the base is still there, with no waiting for a host to launch the game.
From the panel you change the player limit, the difficulty (0 to 5), automatic updates on startup, the game branch and Telnet access for remote administration. Everything else about the game is defined in serverconfig.xml, which you edit in the file manager: map, world size, day cycle, horde frequency, loot and password.
Which plan to choose
Plans differ by RAM, and here what counts is how many people play at once and which mods you load. Billing is monthly with no commitment, and you can move to a plan with more RAM from the client area without losing your data. As a guide:
- Small groups: 4 GB.
- More players or heavy mods: 6 to 8 GB.
- On every plan: 10 GB of NVMe storage and one stored backup per GB of RAM.
How to get started
Choose a plan and complete the payment. Activation is automatic: the server is created on its own and your login details arrive by email. Log in to the panel, set the player limit and difficulty, open serverconfig.xml if you want a different map or a password, and start the server. Your friends connect using the server's address and port.
If you would rather not set it up yourself, Assisted setup is an optional one-off paid service in which a technician gets the server ready with the world, mods and settings you ask for. For anything else, support is handled through tickets on Discord.
Mods and game versions
Mods go in the server's Mods folder, each one in its own folder, uploaded with the file manager or over SFTP (here is our guide to connecting over SFTP).
As for the version, the server can update itself on startup, and the panel lets you pick the game branch, the experimental one for example. Switching branch requires reinstalling the server, so take a backup first; our backup guide explains how to create and restore one.
